Fiberglass Pool Durability & Warranty FAQs #

  • How long does a fibreglass pool last?

A high-quality fibreglass pool can last 30+ years with proper care. The shell is engineered to withstand harsh Australian conditions, resist algae, staining, and structural deterioration.

  • What warranty is provided on the pool shell?

All Tranquility Pools fiberglass shells include a 25-year structural warranty. This covers the integrity of the shell—not just surface cosmetic marks or minor gelcoat scratches.

  • What warranties apply to pumps, filters, heaters, and other equipment?

    Equipment warranties vary by manufacturer:

    • Pumps: 2–4 years

    • Filters: 2–10 years

    • Heaters: 2–10 years

    • LED lights: 1–3 years

    • Chlorinators: 2–5 years

Warranty coverage details are included in your proposal and provided with each product.

  • What can void my pool or equipment warranty?

Common causes of warranty voids include:

    • Incorrect installation or backfill

    • Excavation too close to the shell

    • Long-term unbalanced water chemistry

    • Unauthorized structural modifications

    • Using unapproved chemicals or methods

Following installation guidelines and maintenance instructions ensures your warranties remain valid.

  • Will my fibreglass pool crack?

Structural cracks are extremely rare. Fibreglass shells flex slightly, making them more resilient than concrete. Minor cosmetic gelcoat marks may occur but are repairable and do not affect structural integrity.

  • Will the pool colour fade over time?

No, not if properly maintained. Our UV-stabilised gelcoat is designed for Australian sun exposure. Balanced water chemistry and regular maintenance keep colours vibrant for many years.

  • What if groundwater builds up under the pool?

All pools include a hydrostatic relief valve (HRV) and, when installed, a breather ag-line around the pool that releases groundwater pressure, preventing lifting or movement.

  • Are fibreglass pools suitable for clay or reactive soil?

Yes. Fibreglass pools are highly suitable for reactive soils. Their engineered design and ability to flex slightly reduce the risk of cracking compared to concrete pools.

  • Can fibreglass pools handle extreme heat or cold?

Yes. Fibreglass shells are engineered to withstand thermal expansion and contraction, hot summers, winter cold snaps, and year-round UV exposure.

  • Will the surface become rough over time?

No. Fibreglass surfaces remain smooth with balanced water chemistry. Unlike concrete pools, they do not require resurfacing or major refinishing.

  • Does the pool shell ever need resurfacing?

No. Fibreglass pools do not require resurfacing every 10–15 years like concrete. The gelcoat is durable, low-maintenance, and designed to last decades.

  • What should I do if cosmetic marks appear?

Hairline lines or minor gelcoat scratches may appear from transport or installation. These are cosmetic only and can be repaired by a qualified gelcoat technician.

  • Can a fibreglass pool pop out of the ground?

Shell “pop” is extremely rare when installed correctly. Hydrostatic valves, proper drainage, and maintaining correct water levels prevent this from occurring.

  • Can my pool be installed partially above ground?

Yes. Fibreglass pools can be partially above ground with engineered retaining walls or support structures, depending on your site’s slope and soil conditions.

  • How do I maintain my warranty long-term?

    To keep your warranties valid:

    • Maintain balanced water chemistry

    • Service equipment regularly

    • Do not drain the pool without guidance

    • Never excavate near the pool shell

    • Follow manufacturer and engineer installation recommendations
